Built by Two People in a Living Room
Picture this. Paris, 2024. Two people scrolling through Instagram, watching AI-generated images of luxury bags made from bricks go viral. Millions of likes. Thousands of shares. Everyone loved the idea.
But nobody had actually made one.
We looked at each other and said: we're doing this.
Months of Building Something That Didn't Exist
There was no blueprint. No reference product. No factory making "luxury buildable handbags." The category didn't exist — so we had to invent it.
Months of designing, prototyping, testing. Finding the right bricks. Getting the proportions right. Making sure the build experience felt satisfying, not frustrating. Making sure the final piece looked like an icon, not a toy. Iteration after iteration, from a living room in Paris, until we had something we were proud to put our name on.
May 2025 — The First Bag
REART launched with a single product and zero infrastructure. No warehouse. No team. No investors. Just the two of us.
Every bag that left our hands was made by us. 795 bricks sorted one by one. Foam inserts cut by hand. Fabric pouches stitched and embroidered. Boxes assembled, labels printed, thank-you notes written at 2 AM. For the Display Edition — three hours of manual assembly and hand-varnishing per bag.
It was the most passionate, exhausting, and beautiful chaos of our lives.
200+ People Believed
And people got it.
Over 200 customers in our first year. Five-star reviews from builders around the world. Messages that made us cry — "the most genius idea," "the best gift I ever gave," "even better in real life." 90% of customers chose the most expensive option. They weren't buying bricks. They were investing in something they believed in.
We were onto something real. We knew it. They knew it.
What Broke
We did everything we could to make the experience match the product. Better packaging. Faster shipping options. Premium materials. We poured everything back in — because we wanted every order to feel special.
But doing everything ourselves, from a living room, with no structure, no cash reserves, and no way to hold inventory — it was unsustainable. The costs were enormous. Shipping from France was brutal. Every attempt to improve the experience ate into margins we didn't have. After 300+ orders, we had made almost no profit. Not because the product didn't sell — it sold beautifully. But because we were running a passion project, not a business.
Delivery times stretched. Frustrated messages came in. And our customers were right. They paid premium prices. They deserved a premium experience. And our systems couldn't deliver it.
One night, exhausted, sorting bricks at 3 AM, we understood something that changed everything:
"Passion without systems is chaos. Love for the product without operational excellence is an insult to our customers."
That sentence broke us. And then it rebuilt us.
The Hardest Decision
In early 2026, we paused everything.
Not because we were giving up. Because we were choosing to grow up.
Professional logistics. Bulk manufacturing. Quality packaging. A fulfillment system that ships in days, not months. The kind of infrastructure that lets us scale without losing our soul.
We had two options:
- Close the shop. Go silent. Come back at full price like nothing happened.
- Turn this pause into an opportunity — and reward the people who believe in us.
We chose the second one. Because the people who trust a brand during its hardest chapter deserve the best price that brand will ever offer.
This Is Chapter Two
Same obsessive attention to detail. Same passion for creating something nobody else has. Same two people — with better systems, smarter operations, and the hard-won wisdom of those who almost lost everything.
We're not a luxury corporation. We don't have a marketing department or investors telling us what to do.
We're two people who saw something the internet dreamed about, and decided to make it real. And over 200 people told us it was worth it.
